Trainee Update – April 2021

NSW Trainees

Sydney TAFE training
The Year 11 Hurstville and Bexley trainees have had a thrilling two weeks within these April school holidays. I’m so proud of them all as they have completed the first lot of theoretical components for their Certificate III in Aquatics and Community Recreation.

Although busy with TAFE the trainees should be commended on their willingness to continually put their hands up to take on extra shifts. With site reopenings and the influx of children within Bluefit programs during the school holidays the trainees were an instrumental asset at their given sites. Many trainees were able to take on new experiences through working in new departments such as kids sports coaching and also took on extra shifts during this busy period with the Hurstville site reopening and alongside this many have travelled nationally to compete within their given sports.

Newcastle ATC Training
The year 11 trainees in Lambton have been working hard on their Certificate II of Sport and Recreation! Online learning can be challenging however, the trainees worked as a team to get through the content together with Nikala and Shavaun.

Workshops and Social Nights
Over the holidays we held our first LEA Workshop where our Sydney Trainees participated in a range of skill development activities. It was such a success and it was great to see the trainees engage with each other in such a positive way.

We also had our very first social night! The trainees had so much fun attending rock climbing and were able to apply their skills from the resilience workshop to the activity. This was a well deserved treat for our trainees who have shown such great hardwork and commitment over these past few months!

We also had our first ever social night at Milky Lane with our Newcastle trainees. This was a reward for our Newcastle trainees to celebrate their hard work and training achievements so far.

SA Trainees

Our small but mighty team at the Aquadome is doing really well! All trainees are either already mastering their lifeguarding skills or finalising their training.

Certificate III Aquatics and Community Recreation studies kicked off this holiday block with a Practical training day planned with Julie from Active Training. Great to see some positive learning taking place!

QLD Trainees

The Sport and Recreation certificates have just arrived for our Gladstone Trainees; Sarah Price, Jordan Zerner and Joshua Hoare. They are on their way to complete their workplace hours before they finish their traineeship!

REMINDER QLD TRAINEES:
Michael from YDAT’s next visit is in June. Anna will be sending out reminders, it is important to add this to your calendar to avoid double booking.

VIC Trainees

Our 6 new Victorian trainees have settled in well after a late sign up period due to sporadic closures that hit the state. Our trainees have hit the ground running having now completed all their courses and are currently in a routine of completing their weekly Lifeguarding shifts. All trainees have shown interest in starting their Swim Instructor Course which will commence in the next week.

See above three of our trainees Kali, Hamish and Lilu stopping for a quick pose during their lifeguarding course.

Some of our Victorian trainees also participated in a fun, interactive workshop including study time, team work activities and lunch!

WA Trainees

Our WA consultant Laura, has been working closely with the trainees this term. The second year cohort is currently transitioning into new departments. The first year cohort are well into the routine of their permanent shifts and have been an amazing addition to the BlueFit team. The entire trainee team really benefited from the training held over the Holidays with Sam from NMTAFE.

Team building Workshop
Great to see the trainees all working together while learning new skills.
