Arkana College

I am currently enrolled in Certificate III Sport and Recreation School-Based Traineeship with Leisure Employment Australia and working as a lifeguard. y. By choosing this traineeship, I have been able to gain a Certificate III, Learn-to-Swim qualification and excellent ‘on-the-job’ experience of being a lifeguard. The program has inspired me to further my career into the fitness industry and do something I am passionate about and love all while completing high school.

When I heard about the School Based Traineeship with LEA, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Being able to complete a Cert III in Sport and Recreation and work part time as a lifeguard suited me perfectly. During the traineeship, I have been able to further my knowledge within the Aquatic industry and have learnt the valuable skills to be able to ‘save a life’.I have been fully supported by LEA, School and my co-workers and have made some great new friends along the way.
Samantha B.
Gladstone Aquatic Centre
Starting from a very young age I found a passion for sports and revolved my whole life around it, participating in sports inside and outside of school. When the opportunity arose to enrol in the Certificate III in Sport and Recreation as a School-Based traineeship I jumped at the chance. Thanks to Leisure Employment Australia I have been able to enhance my knowledge in the sporting industry to follow my dreams and make a career out of something I have always loved. I am grateful for my
traineeship opportunity and also the great friendships I have developed while completing my
senior schooling.
