Yeppoon Lagoon
I am currently enrolled in Certificate III Sport and Recreation School-Based Traineeship with Leisure Employment Australia and working as a lifeguard. y. By choosing this traineeship, I have been able to gain a Certificate III, Learn-to-Swim qualification and excellent ‘on-the-job’ experience of being a lifeguard. The program has inspired me to further my career into the fitness industry and do something I am passionate about and love all while completing high school.

When I heard about the School Based Traineeship with LEA, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Being able to complete a Cert III in Sport and Recreation and work part time as a lifeguard suited me perfectly. During the traineeship, I have been able to further my knowledge within the Aquatic industry and have learnt the valuable skills to be able to ‘save a life’.I have been fully supported by LEA, School and my co-workers and have made some great new friends along the way.
Samantha B.
Gladstone Aquatic Centre
Starting from a very young age I found a passion for sports and revolved my whole life around it, participating in sports inside and outside of school. When the opportunity arose to enrol in the Certificate III in Sport and Recreation as a School-Based traineeship I jumped at the chance. Thanks to Leisure Employment Australia I have been able to enhance my knowledge in the sporting industry to follow my dreams and make a career out of something I have always loved. I am grateful for my traineeship opportunity and also the great friendships I have developed while completing my senior schooling.
Hudson I.
Hurstville Aquatic Centre
Hudson is an example of the programs ability to help s student mature into a valuable team member. Under the guidance of our managers, Hudson has transformed to a hardworking staff member who brings positive energy to his work. Having recently completed his Traineeship, Hudson found a passion working as a barista in the café whilst continuing to lifeguard and coach.

Yeppoon Lagoon
Since December 2018 I have had been doing my Certificate III in Sport and Recreation as a school-based traineeship. I was very fortunate to start working at the Yeppoon Lagoon as a lifeguard with a great bunch of people who have taught me a lot about not only the work we are doing, but also life experience as well. This traineeship is a great way enter the work force in a supportive environment and the qualifications that are included are definitely worth it. It is a lot of fun working in an aquatic environment and I am grateful for all the people I have met along the way.

Bexley Aquatic
My traineeship has provided a great number of opportunities and learning experiences. Undergoing the traineeship allowed me to be multi-skilled, working as a pool lifeguard, birthday party host, swim school instructor and programs instructor during my final years of high school, which provided an escape from the stresses of school and taught me the importance of good work ethic. Now currently in my first year of university, I’m still working frequently as a receptionist, tutor and sport coach. The traineeship was an invaluable experience, where I gained irreplaceable friendships in the LEA family.
