QLD Updates
2022 certainly went by in a flash and we are now right in the middle of our Summer season and it was great to see so many trainees picking up extra shifts during the school holiday period. Thank you to everyone for helping keep our facilities safe this Summer!
Great things happened here in QLD throughout the year including the QLD Traineeship awards that saw Martine David from Rockhampton win the regional QLD Training award for LEA School Based Trainee of the year. What an achievement and big shoes to fill for our next nominee!!
In addition to Martine’s success, Martine was also chosen to be our LEA QLD Trainee of the year 2022. A well deserved winner, Martine is now working as a casual staff member at Rocky pool while she completes Year 12. Martine always works hard and brings a smile in every role she is in, whether it’s teaching children in Learn to Swim or patrolling the pools as a LIfeguard. Well done Martine!
2023 Here we come!
We have a new group of trainees across Yeppoon, Rockhampton and Gladstone who have now completed Pool Lifeguard courses and Learn to Swim. They are all settled into their permanent school based shifts and it’s great seeing new faces at our centres.
In January, trainees attended their first study workshop with YDAT, where they completed the first 2 units in Cert lll Sport and Rec.
Monthly supportive online sessions will continue throughout 2023 to ensure 1 unit is completed per calendar month.
