WA Updates
What a massive semester it’s been for our Western Australia team! Let’s dive into a quick recap of everything our team has been up to:
We kicked off the year by welcoming our new WA Traineeship Consultant, Makayla George, in January. Makayla has settled into the role brilliantly and is already making a positive impact within the team. You’ll also spot Makayla around the centre as a Duty Manager at Belmont … make sure to say hello!

At The Pavilion – WACA Ground, our four newest SBATs have officially commenced their traineeships. A big welcome to Asha, Riley, Jackson and Hugh, we’re excited to have you as part of the LEA team. They’ve already shown great enthusiasm, professionalism and a willingness to learn as they begin building their skills and experience within the aquatics and recreation industry.
Over at Belmont, our eight trainees have jumped straight in and are thriving in their roles as Pool Lifeguards and Learn to Swim Instructors. It’s been fantastic watching them grow in confidence, develop their practical skills and continue building valuable workplace experience and hours. Keep smashing it team!
Not only are our WA trainees excelling on pool deck, but they’ve also been putting in the hard work in the classroom. A huge congratulations to all 12 of our 2026 trainees for their commitment and effort towards completing their Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation. With only two units and study sessions remaining through Southern Education, the finish line is in sight! Your dedication and positive attitude have certainly not gone unnoticed, and we’re incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved so far.
Training Awards Nominations
Fingers crossed for Anisha and Ben, who have been nominated for the 2026 WA State Training Awards! Since commencing their traineeships, both have made an outstanding impression through their work ethic, professionalism and commitment to their development.
Good luck Ben and Anisha, LEA are so proud of all your achievements already! Here’s a sneak peek into their applications and what they had to say about the program:
Ben – “Most importantly, it has prepared me for employment, provided valuable industry knowledge, and given me confidence in pursuing a future within the aquatic and recreation industry.”
Anisha – “One of my greatest achievements has been helping a child progress from being scared of the water to becoming confident in their swimming ability.”
