Victorian SBATs – Growth and Achievement

Our Victorian SBATs have applied themselves brilliantly this year, and it’s wonderful to see them starting to reap the rewards. Trainees who were initially uncertain about their abilities in the swim department are now confidently taking on more swim school shifts and thriving. Their growing skills, teamwork, and willingness to take on extra hours have been consistently praised.

Outstanding Individual Achievements

  • Zoarn (Melton Waves): Dedicated extra time earlier in his traineeship to complete his hours smoothly.
  • Joseph Wetzler (Bayfit): Applied himself consistently over 12 months and has been recognised as a top performer.
  • Callum Rygl (Sandringham) Adapted seamlessly to a change of location mid-traineeship during site refurbishment, completing all tasks without complaint.
  • Julia Wozniak (South Morang & Mill Park): Balanced school, SBAT, and professional swimming training, always bringing a positive attitude to her students.

Expansion and Opportunities

Victoria continues to grow, with new swim sites opening each month. This year’s cohort has inspired new trainees, showing what’s possible and encouraging more young people to take up the SBAT program. More trainees are being given the chance to join and succeed.

Transitioning to BlueFit Staff

Congratulations to the following trainees who are completing their SBATs and transitioning into casual BlueFit roles:

Congratulations to Our VIC LEA School-Based Trainee of the Year:

Callum Rygl – Sandringham
We are thrilled to congratulate Callum Rygl as the VIC LEA School-Based Trainee of the Year. His resilience, positivity, and professionalism has been truly outstanding.

Midway through his traineeship, Callum faced a challenge few trainees experience, a complete site relocation during Sandringham’s refurbishment. Not once did he complain or hesitate. He adapted quickly, stepping in wherever needed and performing his role with confidence and maturity.

Callum exemplifies:

  • Flexibility
  • Reliability
  • Professionalism
  • A team centred mindset

His ability to navigate change with ease and optimism has made him a standout trainee this year.
