QUEENSLAND – TRAINEE OF THE YEAR
Lara Pryde has been named the QLD LEA School-Based Trainee of the Year for her outstanding commitment throughout her traineeship.
She consistently put in high effort, worked significant hours, and brought a positive, welcoming attitude to every shift. Lara also played an important role in supporting school swimming programs and is known for her enthusiasm and teamwork.
Her passion for teaching and reliable approach made a strong impact across the Sunshine Coast.

NEW SOUTH WALES – TRAINEE OF THE YEAR
Sebastian Arcibal is recognised for his kindness, professional maturity, and strong work ethic.
His warmth, patience, and motivation help create a supportive environment for his students, and his commitment to their progress stands out.
A key achievement this year was completing his traineeship in under 12 months, including 760 working hours, full Cert III completion, and all competencies achieved.
Sebastien is reliable, grateful, and consistently thoughtful, even bringing treats to LEA check-ins.
He embodies the qualities of an outstanding LEA School-Based Trainee.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA – TRAINEE OF THE YEAR
Lily Hawgood-Watson has shown maturity, reliability, and a genuine passion for working with young children from day one.
Her preschool classes are joyful and engaging, built on strong connections with her students.
Known for her reliability, she completed her training early and regularly steps up for extra shifts and covers.
Her managers often praise her professionalism, initiative, and positive presence.
Lily is seen as a future leader with a bright career ahead.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA – TRAINEE OF THE YEAR
Ellie Kurtzer consistently leads by example, always punctual, prepared, and ready to help others. She quickly mastered SALT and Southern Education and has naturally grown into a peer mentor role.
As a Swim Instructor, Ellie brings joy to the water and builds strong relationships with her students. She was selected early for Preschool training and now runs exceptional Clownfish classes with warmth and confidence.
As a Lifeguard, her calm communication helps families understand supervision policies clearly and respectfully.
Already being developed for a future Pool Deck Coordinator role, Ellie is on track for an outstanding aquatic career. A standout talent.

VICTORIA – TRAINEE OF THE YEAR
Callum Rygl showed resilience and adaptability when his site underwent refurbishment mid-traineeship.
Without complaint, he adjusted to a new location and continued contributing with confidence, positivity, and professionalism.
His willingness to support his team through change while maintaining high standards is deeply admired.
A trainee whose quiet strength shines brightly.

NATIONAL SCHOOL – BASED TRAINEE OF THE YEAR
LEA is proud to announce Elianna “Ellie” Kurtzer as the National School-Based Trainee of the Year.
Ellie’s professionalism, compassion, teaching talent, and leadership at Aquadome have made her a standout not just in SA, but across the country, a well-deserved national honour.
Our national winners represent the very best of the LEA program. Their dedication, kindness, resilience, and commitment to learning have left a lasting impact on their teams, communities, and the future of the aquatic industry.
